Bendigo Building Walks

Bendigo Building Walks

Visitors from near and far with an appreciation for the aesthetically pleasing, and only a passing knowledge of architecture will be awestruck at the quality and grand scale of Bendigo’s public buildings. With its resurgent revitalisation of the last 20 years, Bendigo’s central streetscape is the source of immense civic pride – justifiably – as it speaks of wealth, power, influence, status, flair, entrepreneurism and confidence bestowed on it by the gold rush era of the 19th century.

Pick up the ‘Beautiful Buildings’ brochure at the Visitor Information Centre, Pall Mall, or download from the Bendigo Tourism website. The brochure features 25 notable buildings all within a couple of minute’s walk of Alexandra Fountain.

The walk tells only part of the story. The real history lies with the locals – waiters, volunteers at the Visitor Centre, hotel receptionists, cabbies, bar staff, retailers – who bring the town to life. Don’t be afraid to ask!
