The Pioneer Settlement, situated alongside the picturesque banks of the Little Murray River, is a place that leaves you wanting more.

By Day

Set on three hectares of land, you will find real-life Mallee cottages, a hotel, schools and shops, plus an enormous collection of working tractors and machinery. You can feel the heat in the blacksmith shop, listen to the sounds of the old Pianola or take a ride through our Mallee township on a horse and carriage.

By River

Cruising the mighty Murray River aboard the Pyap paddle steamer is an experience not to be missed. Take in the natural beauty and sounds of the Murray - you will have a memory for a lifetime.

By Night

You cannot go home without experiencing Heartbeat of the Murray. An award winning, 360 degree multi-media sound and laser show spectacular that has to be seen to be believed.

Pioneer Settlement is located on Monash Drive, about one kilometre from the city centre. Catch a V/Line train from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station to Swan Hill. This train trip takes around four hours and 20 minutes.

Tip: Travelling on V/Line during off-peak times is cheaper and more convenient!

On foot
From Swan Hill Station, turn left onto Curlewis Street and walk south around a slight bend through traffic lights and past the Ibis Styles Swan Hill (approx 800m).

Continue south to Gray Street and turn left (McDonalds is on the right hand corner).

Walk towards and over the railway line, turn left and the entrance is approximately 100m down on the right hand side.
