Coaches replace evening trains on the Bendigo Line

Bendigo line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Bendigo Line for the entire journey from Sunday 9 to Wednesday 12 August.

Sunday 9 August

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo.
 
From Bendigo:
From 7.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.
 
Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 August

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo/Epsom/Eaglehawk.

From Bendigo:
From 8pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.

From Epsom:
The 7.55pm Epsom to Southern Cross service will run as a train to Bendigo, then coaches from Bendigo to Southern Cross.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

•    No pets or hot food/liquids allowed on replacement coaches.

Coaches replace Bendigo and Echuca lines trains for all or part of the journey

Bendigo line

Due to Metro maintenance and renewal works, coaches replace Bendigo and Echuca line trains for all or part of the journey from Friday night 14 August until last service Sunday 16 August.

Friday 14 August

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo, Epsom and Eaglehawk.
 
From Bendigo:
From 7pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.

From Epsom:
The 6.56pm and 7.55pm Epsom to Southern Cross services will run as a train to Bendigo, then coaches from Bendigo to Southern Cross.

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross and Gisborne. Trains will run between Gisborne, Bendigo and Echuca.



Coaches will depart Southern Cross Station up to 40 minutes earlier than usual time and be a mix of express and stopping all stations.

Swan Hill Line trains will be replaced between Bendigo and Southern Cross on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.

Passengers with accessibility needs are advised to call 1800 800 007 before travelling so we can provide the best possible service for your journey.

Coaches replace Swan Hill Line trains for part of the journey

Due to Metro maintenance and renewal works, coaches replace Swan Hill Line trains for part of the journey on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August.

Express coaches will run between Southern Cross and Bendigo. Trains will run between Bendigo and Swan Hill.



Footscray passengers:
Coaches will not stop at Footscray Station. Passengers should travel to Southern Cross to connect with express coaches to Swan Hill.

Bendigo and Echuca line trains will be replaced by coaches between Gisborne and Southern Cross.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line

Geelong line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 2 to Tuesday 4 August.

Coaches will replace trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross and Waurn Ponds.

Sunday 2 August

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service.
 
From Waurn Ponds:
From 9pm to last service.

Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 August

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service.

From Waurn Ponds:
From 8pm to last service.

All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all stations coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Night works in Lara

2 Aug 2026

Geelong line

V/Line is carrying out track maintenance works near the McIntyre road level crossing in Lara on Sunday night 2 August.

Works will take place between 9.30pm and 3.30am.

Due to the nature of these works, there will be medium level noise, dust and additiona lighting.

Speed restrictions will be in place and localised traffic management will be used as required. Please allow extra time when moving through the area.

Night works near North Shore Station

3 Aug - 4 Aug 2026

Geelong line

V/Line is carrying out track maintenance works near North Shore Station.

Works will take place at night between 9.30pm and 3.30am on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 August.

Due to the nature of these works, there will be medium level noise, dust and additional lighting.

Traffic management will be used as required. Please allow extra time when moving through the area.

Service changes on the Taralgon and Barinsdale lines

25 Jul - 26 Jul 2026

Gippsland line

Due to Metro maintenance works, there are service changes on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for part of the journey from Saturday night 25 July to last service Sunday 26 July.

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9.30pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham.

From Traralgon:
From 7.30pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.
 
Sunday 26 July

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross and East Pakenham. Trains will run between East Pakenham, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
 
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton or Berwick stations.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

From Bairnsdale:
The 6.16pm service will terminate at East Pakenham, connecting with coaches to Southern Cross.
 
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton or Berwick stations.

Service changes at Euroa and Benalla stations

6 May - 30 Aug 2026

Inland Rail is undertaking project works along the Albury Line until Sunday 30 August.

During this time, Albury Line trains will run but will not stop at Euroa and Benalla stations. There will also be a service change to the daily 5.27pm Albury to Southern Cross train which will depart 7 minutes earlier at 5.20pm. This service will connect with coach replacement services between Seymour and Southern Cross
 
 
Travel advice for Euroa and Benalla passengers
 
Coaches replace trains at Euroa and Benalla stations while Albury Line trains are not stopping there.

Works at Euroa Station

7 Apr 2026

As part of the Inland Rail project, construction of new platforms and station facilities will take place at Euroa Station.

Car park closure

Until 12 April - limited parking will be available at the Railway Street car park. 

From 13 April - the car park will be fully closed. Alternative public parking wil be available at the Euroa Hotel car park, off McGuinness Street.

Pedestrian access changes

Pedestrian access to the station from Rowe street will be closed. Temporary pedestrian access across the rail line will be via Frost Street or Charles Street predestrian crossing. 

Coach stop relocation 

The Railway Street coach stop will be relocated to McGuinness Street for both V/Line and PTV services. 

Please allow extra time when travelling from Euroa Station. We thank passengers for their understanding while these important works take place.

Night works at Shepparton Station

25 Jul - 26 Jul 2026

V/Line is carrying out maintenance and upgrade works at Shepparton Station.

Works will take place at from 7am – 5pm on Friday 24 July and 7pm – 5am on Saturday 25 July.

Due to the nature of these works, there will be moderate level noise, dust and additional lighting.

There will be regular move of heavy machinery and trucks accessing the work site from Purcell Street.
