Coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line

Geelong line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 27 to Tuesday 29 September.

Coaches will replace trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross and Waurn Ponds.

Sunday 27 September

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9.00pm to last service.
 
From Waurn Ponds:
From 9.00pm to last service.

Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9.00pm to last service.

From Waurn Ponds:
From 8.30pm to last service.

All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all stations coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Please allow an additional 40 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Traralgon Line

27 Sep - 30 Sep 2026

Gippsland line

Due to maintenance works in the metropolitan area, coaches replace evening Traralgon Line trains for part of the journey from Sunday 27 to Wednesday 30 September.
 
Sunday 27 September

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham.

From Traralgon:
From 7pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.
 
 
Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 September

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham.

From Traralgon:
From 7pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.

From Bairnsdale:
The 6.16pm service will terminate at East Pakenham, connecting with coaches to Southern Cross.

 
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton or Berwick stations.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Bank Street Railway Signal Upgrade

Gippsland line

Over the coming months crews are delivering signalling upgrade works at Bank Street, Traralgon.
 
Works will occur from 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday.
 
Works will include:

• Constructing the pedestrian crossing and adjoining footpath.
• Trenching and boring
• Deliveries of material like crushed and concrete

 
What to be aware of
There will be construction noise from the use of excavation equipment, and the movement of machinery while works take place.
 
Access changes
Bank Street will be closed between McNulty Drive and Hazelwood Road on weekdays. There will be traffic controllers and management in place. There may be delays while driving in the area so allow extra time

Coaches replace trains on the Seymour and Shepparton lines

Seymour line

Due to Inland Rail works, coaches replace Seymour and Shepparton line trains from Friday 11 to last service Wednesday 16 September.


Friday 11 to Wednesday 16 September

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross, Seymour and Shepparton.

Coaches replace trains on the Albury Line

12 Sep - 15 Sep 2026

Due to Inland Rail works on the Albury Line, coaches will replace trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross and Albury from Saturday 12 to last service Tuesday 15 September.

Some coaches will depart up to 22 minutes earlier than usual train times, so plan ahead and check the temporary timetable before you travel.

Temporary train timetable on the Shepparton Line

23 Sep - 16 Oct 2026

Shepparton Line

Due to track upgrade works, temporary speed restrictions will be in place on the Shepparton Line from Wednesday 23 September to Friday 2 October and Wednesday 7 October to Friday 16 October.


Trains to the city
 
All trains to the city will depart up to 5 minutes earlier from Shepparton, Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie.
The temporary timetables will be available soon:

• 23 September to 2 October
• 7 October to 16 October

 
From Saturday 3 to Tuesday 6 October, trains will run to the usual timetable available here.

Track maintenance works on the Seymour Line

Seymour line

Over coming months, V/Line crews will be working to replace sleepers along sections of the Seymour Line between Broadford and Craigieburn.
 
Works schedule
Tuesday 11 August to Friday 21 August
Monday 24 August to Friday 4 September
Tuesday 8 September to Friday 18 September
 
Works will take place each night between 10.30pm and 6.00am, with crews spending no more than two nights in each location as they move progressively down the line.

There will be a high level of construction noise as crews replace and tamp ballast. There will be regular movement of heavy machinery and trucks, and a significant amount of dust is expected at the works sites.

Track maintenance works on the Seymour Line

Seymour line

V/Line crews will carry out renewals works at Beveridge Road and Minton Steet level crossing.
 
Works schedule
Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 September – 10pm – 6am
Friday 11 to Thursday 17 September – 7am – 5pm

What to be aware of
There will be a high level of construction noise at times, as crews replace and tamp ballast.

There will be regular movement of heavy machinery and trucks, and a significant amount of dust is expected at the work site.

The work site will be accessed via Beveridge level crossing. There will be localised traffic management in place as required. Please allow extra time when moving through the area.

Maintenance works in Shepparton

11 Sep - 15 Sep 2026

V/Line crews will carry out track maintenance at Broken River bridge in Shepparton from Friday 11 to Tuesday 15 September.

Works will take place around the clock from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September.

If required, additional works will be carried between 9pm and 7am on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September.

What to be aware of
There will be regular movement of heavy machinery and a high level of construction noise and additional lighting and dust in the area.

Level crossing works in Donnybrook

20 Sep - 24 Sep 2026

Seymour line

V/Line is carrying out track maintenance and re-asphalting of the level crossing from Sunday 20 to Thursday 24 September.
 
Works will take each night between 9.45pm and 5am. The Donnybrook Road level crossing will be closed to motorists duing these times. 
 
What to be aware of

Detours, signage and traffic management will be in place to direct motorists.

The detour will take 25 minutes so please allow extra time.

There will be a high level of construction noise and additional lighting at times.
