Coaches replace evening trains on the Bendigo Line

Bendigo line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Bendigo Line for the entire journey from Sunday 4 to Wednesday 7 October.

Sunday 4 October

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo.
 
From Bendigo:
From 7.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.
 
Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 October

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo/Epsom/Eaglehawk.

From Bendigo:
From 8pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.

From Epsom:
The 7.55pm Epsom to Southern Cross service will run as a train to Bendigo, then coaches from Bendigo to Southern Cross.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

•    There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services.
•    No pets or hot food/liquids allowed on replacement coaches.

•    In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.

Coaches replace some late-night trains on the Geelong Line

Due to works, coaches replace some late night trains on the Geelong Line on Friday 16 October.

From Southern Cross Station:
The 12.15am and 1.15am trains to Waurn Ponds will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.

Due to works, coaches replace some evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 25 October to Tuesday 27 October.

From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.

From Waurn Ponds:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.

From Waurn Ponds:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all stations coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Additional train departs Southern Cross at 11.36pm. This train will stop at Tarneit, Wyndham Vale, Little River, Lara, Corio, North Shore, North Geelong, Geelong, South Geelong, Marshall, arriving at Waurn Ponds at 12.55am.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Traralgon Line

4 Oct - 7 Oct 2026

Gippsland line

Due to maintenance works in the metropolitan area, coaches replace evening Traralgon Line trains for part of the journey from Sunday 4 to Wednesday 7 October.
 
Sunday 4 Wednesday 7 October

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham.

From Traralgon:
From 7pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.

From Bairnsdale:
The weekday 6.16pm service will terminate at East Pakenham, connecting with coaches to Southern Cross.
 
 
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton or Berwick stations.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Bank Street Railway Signal Upgrade

Gippsland line

Over the coming months crews are delivering signalling upgrade works at Bank Street, Traralgon.
 
Works will occur from 7am – 7pm Monday to Friday.
 
Works will include:

• Constructing the pedestrian crossing and adjoining footpath.
• Trenching and boring
• Deliveries of material like crushed and concrete

 
What to be aware of
There will be construction noise from the use of excavation equipment, and the movement of machinery while works take place.
 
Access changes
Bank Street will be closed between Princes Hwy and McNulty St on weekdays. There will be traffic controllers and management in place, and a detour. There may be delays while driving in the area so allow extra time.

Temporary train timetable on the Shepparton Line

23 Sep - 16 Oct 2026

Shepparton Line

Due to track upgrade works, temporary speed restrictions will be in place on the Shepparton Line from Wednesday 23 September to Friday 2 October and Wednesday 7 October to Friday 16 October.


Trains to the city
 
All trains to the city will depart up to 5 minutes earlier from Shepparton, Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie.
The temporary timetables will be available soon:

• 23 September to 2 October
• 7 October to 16 October

 
From Saturday 3 to Tuesday 6 October, trains will run to the usual timetable available here.

Coaches replace some evening trains on the Seymour and Shepparton lines

Seymour line

Due to track maintenance works, coaches replace some evening Seymour and Shepparton Line trains from Tuesday 6 October to Thursday 15 October.
 
Weekdays - Tuesday 6 to Friday 9 October and Monday 12 to Thursday 15 October

Coaches replace the 9.36pm train from Southern Cross to Seymour and Shepparton.


Weekend - Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October

Coaches replace the 9.37pm train from Southern Cross to Seymour and Shepparton.

Please note - the 10.37pm and 11.37pm Southern Cross to Seymour trains will run as scheduled.


Replacement coaches will be a mix of express and stopping all stations services. Coaches will not stop at Essendon Station.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Due to maintenance works in the metropolitan area, coaches replace Seymour and Shepparton line trains for all or part of the journey from Friday evening 16 to last service Sunday 18 October.
 
Friday 16 October

From Southern Cross:
From 9.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Seymour and Shepparton. 

From Seymour:
From 7.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.

From Shepparton:
From 8pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Southern Cross.

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October

Seymour Line

Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Seymour.

Trains will run as usual between Seymour and Shepparton.

Important travel advice for Shepparton passengers:

• If you are departing from a station between Broadmeadows and Tallarook to a Shepparton Line station, catch a stopping all stations coach replacement.  Please note these coaches will depart one hour earlier than the usual timetable.
• If you are travelling from Southern Cross to Seymour, catch an express coach which will depart 15 minutes earlier than the usual timetable.
