Coaches replace Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill line trains

22 Feb - 8 Mar 2026

Bendigo line

Due to V/Line annual maintenance works, coaches replace Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill Line trains for the entire journey from Sunday night 22 February to Sunday 8 March.

Sunday night 22 February

To Southern Cross:
From 7.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Southern Cross to Bendigo for the entire journey.

From Southern Cross:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Bendigo to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

Monday 23 February to Sunday 8 March

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross, Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill for the entire journey.

A temporary coach replacement timetable will be in place. 

Passengers travelling to and from Huntly Station:
Please be advised that V/Line coach replacements will arrive and depart from the coach stop outside of Huntly IGA at 4/619 Midland Hwy, Huntly VIC 3551.
 
Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

•    There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services.
•    No pets or hot food/liquids allowed on replacement coaches.

Service changes on the Warrnambool Line

31 Jan 2026

Due to the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, some Warrnambool Line trains will have service changes on Saturday 31 January.

To Southern Cross:  
The 5.27pm Warrnambool to Southern Cross train will be replaced by coaches from Warrnambool to Waurn Ponds.

Passengers travelling through to Southern Cross can transfer to a train at Waurn Ponds Station.

From Southern Cross:
The 1.10pm Southern Cross to Warrnambool train will terminate at Waurn Ponds. Coaches will run between Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool.

Note that Warrnambool Line trains will run as normal on Sunday 1 February.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes travel time for your journey.

Coach replacement services will be a mix of express, semi-express and stopping all stations.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line

Geelong line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 15 to Tuesday 17 February.


Sunday 15 February  

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.
 
From Waurn Ponds:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross for the entire journey.
 
Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 February

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

From Waurn Ponds:
From 8pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross for the entire journey.


All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all stations coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Car park changes at Geelong Station

Geelong line

Due to V/Line improvement works, approximately 14 car parking spaces in the Latrobe Terrace Car park will be unavailable from Saturday 17 January to Thursday 29 January.

Vehicles left within the works zone may be relocated or towed to allow essential works.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Traralgon Line

Gippsland line

Due to maintenance and renewal works on the metropolitan network, coaches replace evening Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for part of the journey on Sunday 8 February to Wednesday 11 February.
 
Sunday 8 February

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham. Trains will run from East Pakenham to Traralgon.

From Traralgon:
From 7pm to last service – trains will terminate at East Pakenham. Coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.
 
 
Monday 9 February to Wednesday 11 February

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches will replace trains from Southern Cross to East Pakenham. Trains will run from East Pakenham to Traralgon.

From Traralgon:
From 7pm to last service – trains will terminate at East Pakenham. Coaches will replace trains from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.

From Bairnsdale:
The 6.10pm Bairnsdale to Southern Cross service will terminate at East Pakenham. Coaches will run from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.
 
 
Coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton or Berwick stations.

Please allow an additional 60 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Service changes on the Bairnsdale Line

8 Feb - 31 Mar 2026

Bairnsdale Line
 
Due to track upgrade works, temporary speed restrictions will be in place on a section of the Bairnsdale Line from Sunday 8 February to Tuesday 31 March.

During this time, trains will run at slower than normal speeds between Bairnsdale and Rosedale to allow the tracks to bed down.

Trains to the city

All trains to the city will depart up to 6 minutes earlier from Bairnsdale, Stratford, Sale and Rosedale stations.

Please note that on Monday 9 March, trains will run to a Saturday timetable for the Labour Day public holiday.

Due to ongoing road closures between Yea and Yarck, the following scheduled coach services will operate via a detour. These services will be unable to stop at Molesworth, Yarck, Merton, Woodfield, Bonnie Doon and Maindample from Thursday, 22 January through to Wednesday, 28 January.

• The 07:30 Mansfield to Melbourne Southern Cross.
• The 08:30 Melbourne Southern Cross to Mansfield.
• The 13:15 Mansfield to Melbourne Southern Cross.
  • Please note: This service will depart 60 minutes later than scheduled, to support essential fatigue management requirements.
• The 18:01 Melbourne Southern Cross to Mansfield.

The detour, via Seymour is anticipated to add up to 60 minutes to the journey time so please plan your journey accordingly. 

Thursday 29 January

Due to ongoing road closures between Yea and Yarck, the following scheduled coach services will operate via a detour. These services will be unable to stop at Molesworth, Yarck, Merton, Woodfield, Bonnie Doon and Maindample.

• The 07:30 Mansfield to Melbourne Southern Cross.

Roads are expected to reopen between Yea and Yarck at 9am on Thursday 29 January. As a result the following services will run as scheduled, servicing all stops. 

• The 08:30 Melbourne Southern Cross to Mansfield.
• The 13:15 Mansfield to Melbourne Southern Cross.
• The 18:01 Melbourne Southern Cross to Mansfield.

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Syemour Line for the entire journey from Sunday 8 February to Wednesday 11 February.

From Southern Cross Station:
The 9.43pm service to Seymour will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.

From Seymour:
The 8.27pm service to Southern Cross will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
 
Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 February

From Southern Cross Station:
The 9.43pm service to Seymour will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
 
From Seymour:
The 9.56pm service to Southern Cross will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.

Replacement coaches will be a mix of express and stopping all stations services.
Coaches will not stop at Essendon Station.
