Line suspension - Gippsland line

UPDATE: 05:55

Coaches are replacing trains between East Pakenham and Southern Cross due to vandalism near Westall.

Passengers are advised to board replacement coaches between East Pakenham and Southern Cross, with trains continuing to operate from East Pakenham to Traralgon and Bairnsdale. 

Passengers travelling to Dandenong, Clayton, Caulfield, Richmond and Flinders Street are advised to board Metro train services.

Service alterations:
To Southern Cross:

  • The 04:34 Traralgon - Southern Cross service will end early at East Pakenham
  • The 05:21 Traralgon - Southern Cross service will end early at East Pakenham
  • The 05:42 Traralgon - Flinders Street service will end early at East Pakenham
  • The 06:35 Traralgon - Southern Cross service will end early at East Pakenham
  • The 07:14 Traralgon - Southern Cross service will end early at East Pakenham

From Southern Cross:

  • The 05:40 Southern Cross - Traralgon service will originate at East Pakenham at 06:47
  • The 06:20 Southern Cross - Traralgon service will originate at East Pakenham at 07:28
  • The 07:00 Southern Cross - Traralgon service will originate at East Pakenham at 08:08
  • The 07:40 Southern Cross - Bairnsdale service will originate at East Pakenham at 08:46


We are assessing the situation and will advise when trains will resume.

General information

  • In Melbourne, coaches will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.

  • No pets allowed on replacement coaches.

  • There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services.

  • Customers needing special assistance please call 1800 800 007 before travelling.
