Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne

Visit Melbourne's inner-city oasis, where more than 10,000 plant species from around the world are presented in a kaleidoscope of colour and texture. The internationally renowned Roytal botanic Gardens boast sweeping lawns, tranquil lakes and majestic trees - many home to an awe-inspiring range of wildlife.

Enjoy a run, jog or walk around 'The Tan', a popular 3.84km running circuit that runs parallel to the perimeter fence of the gardens. Why not treat yourself to a coffee and cake afterwards or schedule in lunch with friends at the Gardens' cafe and hidden gem The Terrace, located a short stroll away from Gate A.

During the summer months, the gardens play host to Melbourne's much loved Moonlight Cinema, an outdoor cinema screening advance release, new release and cult films on the Gardens' Central Lawn. These are ticketed events. All details available here.

For the kids, the 5000 square metre Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden is designed as a discovery area for children of all ages and abilities.
