Grab a local map from the Visitor Information Centre and head off on the Arts Network Trail to discover the town's cultural hot spots, stopping along the way to admire the many nature reserves.

Bairnsdale offers a range of outdoor activities, including rafting and kayaking in the Mitchell River National Park, fishing and bushwalking. Local tour operators can provide equipment and transport so all you need to do is turn up!

The East Gippsland Rail Trail also offers a unique experience for cyclists looking to escape the traffic of the city. A half or full day route, which meanders along the river and takes in views of the undulating landscape, is the perfect way to experience Gippsland. Bikes can be hired in town and maps will provide recommendations for cafes and wineries along the way.

This laidback country town is also home to many exciting events like the Bairnsdale Cup, the Bairnsdale Country Music Festival and many farmers markets held regularly throughout the year.

From Melbourne's Southern Cross Station, catch the Bairnsdale train on the Gippsland Line to Bairnsdale Station. The journey takes just under four hours.

V/Line also offers bus services linking Bairnsdale with other towns around Victoria. 

The station is a five minute walk from the town’s main street. Check Google Maps for reference.
