Coaches replace trains on the Gippsland Line

Gippsland line

Due to Gippsland Line Upgrade works, along with other project works, coaches will replace trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part the journey from Saturday 14 June to Wednesday 13 August.

Once completed, the Gippsland Line Upgrade will enable extra trains to run giving passengers more travel options.

Travel Advice

When they become available, use the temporary timetables to plan your journey. At times during the disruption, the V/Line and PTV Journey Planners, Google Maps and other trip planning apps will not show altered departure and arrival times.
Plan ahead and allow an extra two hours for your journey.
Check before you travel as the service plan may be different on your return trip.
If you’re travelling towards Traralgon and transferring at East Pakenham, please refer to the temporary timetable and catch the Pakenham Line Metro train that connects with a V/Line coach.
Metro trains on the Pakenham Line depart from Platform 12 at Southern Cross and Platform 6 at Flinders Street stations.
Depart at least one hour earlier than usual if you’re travelling from the city towards Traralgon and connecting with a scheduled coach service.

General Information

There is limited space for bikes on V/Line trains and coach replacement services.
No pets or hot food allowed on replacement coaches.
Customers require a valid myki or paper ticket to travel on all V/Line replacement coach services. Please touch on and touch off your myki to ensure you pay the correct fare.
The Southern Cross Station coach terminal located on Spencer Street, opposite Little Bourke Street.
Coaches will not stop at Richmond Station. Customers should take a Metro service to and from Southern Cross Station or Caulfield.
