Midland Highway bridge works

V/Line crews will carry out bridge maintenance and upgrade works in Castlemaine from Monday 23 February to Saturday 7 March.

What we are doing

V/Line will carry out water proofing works on the historic Midland Highway bridge in Castlemaine. These works will ensure the bridge continues to provide a vital connection for passengers on the Bendigo Line.

Works will take place around the clock from Monday 23 February to Saturday 7 March.

Traffic impacts

To safely complete these works, our crews require unlimited access to the bridge while V/Line trains are not running.

The Midland Highway bridge underpass will remain open to motorists and pedestrians during this time.

Speed restrictions will be in place and localised traffic management will be used to hold traffic as required. Please allow extra time when moving through the area.

What to be aware of

There will be regular movement of heavy machinery and trucks, and a significant amount of dust is expected at the work site.

There will also be a high level of construction noise at some times.
