Ballarat Station Upgrade works - November changes

Ballarat Station Upgrade works continue throughout November from Saturday 1 November to Saturday 29 November.

Coaches will replace trains from first service Tuesday 18 November until last service Friday 28 November due to V/Line annual maintenance and infrastructure works.

While trains are not running, works will be carried out around the clock from 7pm Friday 21 November until 6am Monday 24 November.

During this time, Ballarat Station, including buildings and platforms, will be closed to the public with temporary waiting areas and accessible portable toilets available (see map below).

At other times, crews will work Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 7am to 5pm.

Pedestrian detours
  • There will be changes to pedestrian access in the Ballarat Station precinct. Please follow directional signage to help you move safely through the area.
Station access changes
  • Ballarat Station closed from 7pm Friday 21 November until 6am Monday 24 November.
    - The public toilets, waiting rooms, V/Line ticket office, Station Refreshment Room café and Sweaty AF gym will be closed during this time. All entrances to the platforms and station buildings on the north and south sides will also be closed.
    - Accessible portable toilets will be available on the southern side of the station and additional seating will be available in the coach arrival and departure area.
     
  • Northern station entrance intermittent closures from 7am Monday 17 November until 5pm Wednesday 19 November.
    - During closures, access to Platform 2 will be via the alternative entrance near Lydiard Street. Access to Sweaty AF gym will not change during these works.
    - Signage will be in place to assist passengers through the pedestrian detour (see map below).
Parking changes from 7am Wednesday 19 November until 5pm Wednesday 26 November
  • Temporary closure of parking on Railway Parade (south side).
  • Temporary relocation of taxi pick up/drop off to Railway Parade, closest to Platform 2.
What to expect

While construction is carried out, there will be additional noise, vibrations and activity with vehicles and workers moving around the station.
