Grampians Bushwalking Itinerary

Grampians Bushwalking Itinerary

For a bushwalk with a difference, make your way to the scenic Grampians, where an adventure through unspoilt natural beauty will leave you in awe of the Victorian landscape.

Rich with the history of Indigenous peoples who have lived in the area for over 20,000 years, the Grampians National Park is one of Victoria’s most fascinating destinations. Don’t be fooled by the park’s rugged facade of jagged cliffs and rock formations, the Grampians provide a home to many creatures and birds, as well as a burgeoning wine and olive industry.

For a bushwalk that will allow you to experience all the Grampians has to offer, look no further than the Auswalk self-guided inn-to-inn hike through the Grampians National Park. With enough trails for six days of bushwalking, the Auswalk inn-to-inn hike will see you spend six days enjoying the outdoors by day and sampling local culture, food and accommodation by night.

Luggage and supplies are no issue for bushwalkers, as while you are out enjoying the breathtaking scenery, your luggage will be moved from inn to comfortable country inn for you. You can arrange to have your first host meet you at the Stawell train station and take you to your accommodation in Pomonal, where the trail begins.

Wake up refreshed after a quiet night’s sleep in Pomonal to begin the approach to the Grampian ranges. Reward yourself on day one with the views from the top of Tunnel Hill and enjoy some indigenous foods at Brambuk National Park and Cultural Centre before you arrive at your next stop in Halls Gap.

Over the next two days you will enjoy rock formations along the Grand Canyon Circuit, like Elephants Hide, Venus Baths and Echo Cave. You will climb up to 360-degree views from Pinnacle Lookout and the Mt. Difficult Range, sure to provide opportunities for bird watching and animal sightings. Return to Pomonal via the southern shores of Lake Bellfield and views of Mt. Cassel.

Enjoy one more night sleeping deeply in peace and quiet and fill your lungs with fresh country air over breakfast as you wrap up your holiday. With all of the maps, vehicle transfers and information provided, it’s not a problem to go it alone, but guides are available for the walk.

Check the weather for rainfall and predicted temperatures, but other than July when the hike is unavailable, the Grampians are ready when you are!
