Pauline Gandel Children's Gallery

Pauline Gandel Children's Gallery

Melbourne Museum's new Pauline Gandel Children's Gallery is a unique place for young children - from babies to 5 years old. The redeveloped Gallery features a dinosaur dig to excavate fossils, a discover garden, museum objects and an immersive 'camouflage disco' where children can turn into spotty and stripy animals.

When children and families arrive at the new gallery they can 'meet at the train' - an iconic one-third life size model of the Victoria Railway's first C-class, 'Consolidation' stream locomotive built in 1914. The train will have a special child size tunnel entrance, a giant railway clock and a soundscape and lighting effects.

Children can follow a set of dinosaur footprints from the gallery entrance to a sandpit outside - our Dinosaur Dig, where a fully cast Mamenchisaurus skeleton can be excavated by avid little paleontologists - from head to tail.

This unique gallery will support families, carers, educators and children to learn together.

Meet you at the train!
