Victorian Country Football LeagueV/Line sponsorship of the Victoiran Country Football League focuses on junior footballer and umpire development.
Our sponsorship began in 2004 and includes the V/Line Cup, umpire development programs and the V/Line Life Training program.
V/Line CupThe V/Line Cup is the elite under-15 championship for junior VCFL players. It provides opportunities for rising country football stars to showcase their skills to a wider audience and play against their peers from across Victoria.
Each year the competition, played in a round-robin format across four divisions, brings together over 500 players from across Victoria including Gippsland, Wimmera and Mildura for three days.
The competition is a recognised pathway for players on their journey to the AFL.
Officiating umpires have been selected exclusively from the V/Line Umpire Academies.
The 2011 V/Line Cup was held between 9 - 13 April in Ballarat, Bendigo and Melbourne. Played across 3 divisions the winners were:
Division 1 - Geelong
Division 2 - Peninsula Stingrays
Division 3 - Sunraysia
Geelong girls triumpher over Bendigo in the Youth Girls ChallengeThe 2012 V/Line Cup will be held between 2 - 4 April. Working at the Salvation Army Outreach Centre to serve breakfast to the homeless, poor and disadvantaged
A tour of the MCG and
Going to an AFL game and umpiring the NAB Auskick game at halftime.
V/Line Umpire AcademiesThe program is designed as a platform for aspiring umpires to develop towards careers in the VFL and AFL.
Developing and some more mature umpires from across Victoria participate in umpire training and education sessions throughout the year.
The academies help umpires to develop their skills with the aim of officiating more senior competitions including the V/Line Cup and the Australia Country Football Championships.
V/Line Life TrainingV/Line Life Training was developed with the VCFL to educate regional teenagers of the risks associated with binge drinking, taking illegal drugs and depression.
