Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening Bendigo Line trains for the entire journey from Sunday 1 to Wednesday 4 December.

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo for the entire journey.
 
From Bendigo:
The 9pm service will be replaced by coaches to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

From Southern Cross Station:
From 8pm to last service – coaches replace trains to Bendigo/Epsom/Eaglehawk for the entire journey.

Service changes on the Bendigo and Echuca lines

5 Dec - 12 Dec 2024

Bendigo line

Due to Level Crossing Removal works at Diggers Rest and Metro Tunnel Project works, there will be service changes for part of the journey on the Bendigo and Echuca lines from Thursday 5 to Thursday 12 December.

Weekdays (Thursday 5, Friday 6, Monday 9 to Thursday 12 December)

Bendigo and Echuca Line trains will only run between Bendigo, Echuca and Sunbury stations.

Passengers travelling to Southern Cross or Footscray:
Catch a train replacement bus service from Sunbury Station to Watergardens Station, then connect with a Sunbury Line metro train to complete your journey.

Passengers travelling from Southern Cross or Footscray:
Catch a Sunbury Line Metro Trains service to Watergardens Station, then a train replacement bus service to Sunbury Station to connect with a V/Line train.



Travelling with bikes:
Passengers transferring between V/Line and Metro Train services are advised that bikes are not allowed on the replacement buses running between Sunbury and Watergardens.

Extra travel time:
Passengers travelling on weekdays should allow an extra 60 minutes for the journey as there may be delays when transferring between Metro and V/Line services.

Planning your journey:
Passengers are advised to use the PTV journey planner when travelling on weekdays during this disruption. The journey planner will show arrival and departure times for both V/Line and Metro Train services.

A temporary PDF timetable will also be available to download from the V/Line website. This timetable will show arrival and departure times for Bendigo and Echuca line trains terminating at Sunbury Station.

Weekend (Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December)

Bendigo and Echuca Line trains will only run between Bendigo, Echuca and Gisborne stations.
Coaches replace trains between Gisborne and Southern Cross.



Coaches will be a mix of express, semi-express and stopping all stations.

A temporary timetable for the weekend will be in place and available to down from the V/Line website. Passengers can also use the V/Line and PTV journey planners.

Coaches replace trains on part of the Swan Hill Line

5 Dec - 12 Dec 2024

Due to Level Crossing Removal works at Diggers Rest and Metro Tunnel Project works, there will be service changes on the Swan Hill Line for part of the journey from Thursday 5 to Thursday 12 December.

Swan Hill Line trains will run between Swan Hill and Bendigo stations only.

Travel to and from Southern Cross

Passengers travelling to and from the city can catch an express coach between Bendigo and Southern Cross.

Coaches will not stop at Footscray Station.



Travel to and from other stations on the Bendigo Line

Passengers travelling to and from other stations on the Bendigo Line, will transfer to a Bendigo Line train or replacement coach at Bendigo Station.

Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November

From Southern Cross Station:
The 5.32pm Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds train will terminate at Geelong. Passengers travelling through to Waurn Ponds can board the following service, departing Geelong at 6.46pm.

From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.

From Waurn Ponds/Geelong:
From 8.30pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

From South Geelong:
The 8.26pm train will be replaced by coaches from South Geelong to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all statios coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Information about travelling on a VLocity train

VLocity trains will be progressively introduced on the Warrnambool Line from 1 November. The following information outlines what you need to know when travelling on this service.
 
Luggage and bikes
 
VLocity trains feature in-carriage luggage storage, making it easy to access belongings throughout the journey. While VLocity trains will not offer checked luggage services, this change allows for quicker boardings and departures, giving passengers better access to their luggage. 
 
Passengers can bring their bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters on board where there is space available. VLocity trains have dedicated in-carriage bike storage areas. Prior to boarding, where possible, please speak to station staff or the conductor, who will determine if there is space available for you to travel with a bicycle, and if so, direct you to the best location to wait on the platform and where to store your bicycle for the duration of your journey.
 
Food and drink
 
VLocity trains travelling on the Warrnambool Line do not have on-board café bar facilities. Passengers are able to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages onboard, providing they have a secure lid. Vending machines will be available at Warrnambool, Camperdown, Colac, Geelong, Footscray and Southern Cross stations for purchasing refreshments before your journey. Passengers are encouraged to consider other travellers and avoid strong smelling food. 
 
Reservations
 
Passengers can book a ticket via the V/Line website, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, calling 1800 800 007 or visiting a retail ticket agent.

Two of the three carriages will offer reserved seating with the third carriage available for unreserved seating. If all seats are booked on a service, passengers can buy an unreserved ticket but may have to stand for all or part of the journey.   

On Warrnambool bound trains, the rear two carriages will be reserved, while on Melbourne bound trains, the front two will be reserved. This includes the quiet carriage at the Melbourne end of the train.

The recent introduction of eTicketing has made taking a journey with V/Line even easier – giving passengers the option to receive their tickets via SMS or email, in addition to traditional paper tickets.
 
Priority seats and mobility aid spaces can be reserved, or passengers can request assistance from the conductor on the day. Elderly passengers and passengers with accessibility needs should speak to the conductor onboard the service if they require assistance.
 
Passengers with accessibility needs are encouraged to call 1800 800 007 before you travel so we can provide the best possible service for your journey.
 
The seating layout on a VLocity service may change at short notice due to operational requirements so please speak with a conductor if you require assistance around your reservation.  
 

South Geelong Station reopening

26 Aug 2024

Geelong line

The upgraded South Geelong Station is set to open and trains will resume running from Monday 26 August.

There will be some works continuing over coming weeks, including to lifts, as crews complete this station upgrade.

Platform changes:
Trains can depart from either platform in both directions, so please check the Passenger Information Displays to ensure you are waiting on the correct platform for your service.

From Monday 26 August the following new facilities will be open to passengers:

• Accessible pedestrian ramps and upgraded level crossing at Yarra and Swanston streets to allow passengers to cross the rail line.
• The new station building will be available including enclosed waiting room, toilets and V/Line customer service.
• Pedestrian entrances at Yarra Street, Carr Street/Lonsdale Street, Verner Street and Swanston Street will be open including forecourts on both sides of the rail line.
• Two-thirds of the station car park will be open in the station precinct with vehicle access (entrance and exit) only from Verner Street / Bellerine Street. All of the accessible car parking spaces will be open and passenger drop off / pick up and taxi bays available on Carr Street. All car parks along Carr Street between Lonsdale and Swanston Streets will be open.
• Two parkiteers will be available for use, holding a total of 48 bikes (24 in each) and new bicycle hoops all around the station precinct.

Marshall Station reopening

26 Aug 2024

Geelong line

The upgraded Marshall Station will open when trains return from first service on Monday 26 August.

There will be some works continuing over coming weeks, including to lifts, as crews complete this station upgrade.

Changes to platform one:
With the construction of a second platform at Marshall Station, the platform number of the existing platform will be switched following the return of train services on Monday 26 August. 
 
The existing platform one will become platform two and the new platform will become platform one.

Trains can depart from either platform in both directions, so please check the Passenger Information Displays to ensure you are waiting on the correct platform for your service.

The following new facilities will be open to passengers:

• Accessible pedestrian ramps and upgraded level crossing at Marshalltown Road to allow passengers to cross the rail line.
• The new station building will be available including enclosed waiting room, toilets and V/Line customer service.
• Pedestrian entrance at Marshalltown Road and the bus loop and forecourt directly in front of the new station building.
• Two-thirds of the station car park will be open with vehicle access (entrance and exit) only from the new entrance at Drews Road. 17 of the 20 accessible car parking spaces will be open.
• A parkiteer will be available for use, holding a total of 24 bikes and new bicycle hoops all around the station precinct.

Night works between Terang and Warrnambool

V/Line is completing track maintenance works between Terang and Warrnambool.

Works will be completed each night between 9.00pm and 7.00am on the following dates:

Extra weekend services on the Albury Line

Extra weekend services are running on the Albury Line on Saturdays and Sundays.

An additional Saturday train departs Albury at 7.55am, arriving at Southern Cross at 11.37am.

An additional Sunday train departs Southern Cross at 2.33pm, arriving in Albury at 6.16pm.

The special services operate as three-carriage trains and do not include a café bar.

All other weekend Albury services are running as currently scheduled with their carriage configuration and timetabled departure times.

The special services appear alongside timetabled services on the V/Line journey planner.

Departure times may change from week-to-week so please check the journey planner on the V/Line website or app before you travel.

All passengers travelling on Albury Line services are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve a seat by booking online, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
