More than $6 million in improvement works were completed on the Geelong/Warrnambool line over the Easter long weekend.
The works included an important upgrade at Geelong Station which involved removing 220 metres of track along both station platforms and fitting new concrete, sleepers, rail, ballast and drainage.
More than 1600 new sleepers were installed between Marshall and Waurn Ponds and there were improvement works on four level crossings along the line.
Around $2 million in signalling work was completed between Lara and Geelong as well as the removal of mud holes between Corio and Geelong.
The crews also built a retaining wall and completed mud removal in the Geelong tunnel, and built a pedestrian path at the West Road level crossing in Wyndham Vale.
More than 200 V/Line staff and contractors worked on the project across three days.
V/Line thanks customers and residents for their patience and understanding while we completed these important works.
