V/Line’s extra footy services – AFL finals week 1

V/Line have added five extra trains and more than 500 seats to existing trains for the AFL qualifying finals at the MCG this weekend.

Geelong services to Sunday’s final will receive the biggest boost with an extra four trains running to and from the MCG.

Second Qualifying Final – Friday 5 September
Hawthorn versus Western Bulldogs at MCG

Geelong line
• There will be extra seats available on the 23:05 Southern Cross to South Geelong.

Ballarat line
• 23:25 Southern Cross to Ballarat will have 80 additional seats.

Bendigo line
• An additional service departs from Sunbury at 17:37 and operates express to Southern Cross arriving at 18:14.
• 23:45 Southern Cross to Bendigo will have 80 additional seats.

Seymour line
• The 23:43 Southern Cross to Seymour will have 90 additional seats.

Gippsland line
• The 16:00 train service from Traralgon will make an additional stop at Richmond at 18:19 for the MCG.
• The 17:05 train service from Traralgon will stop at Richmond at 19:20 for the MCG.
• An additional train will depart Southern Cross Station at 22:35 and Richmond 22:43 then drop off only to all stations to Traralgon, expected to arrive 00:33.

First Qualifying Final – Sunday 7 September
Geelong versus St Kilda at MCG

Geelong line
• The 11:35 South Geelong to Southern Cross train will have additional seating departing Geelong 11:40, North Geelong 11:43, Lara 11:54, Southern Cross 12:42 and will be extended to Richmond Station, arriving at 12:53.
• Extra service departing Marshall 11:50, South Geelong 11:56u, Geelong 12:01u, North Geelong 12:04u, North Shore 12:08u, Corio 12:11u, Lara 12:17u, Little River 12:24u then express to Richmond arrive 13:13.
• The 12:24 Marshall to Southern Cross has additional seating departing South Geelong 12:29, Geelong 12:34, North Geelong 12:38, North Shore 12:42, Corio 12:46, Lara 12:53, Little River 13:00, Southern Cross 13:42 and is extended to Richmond station arriving 13:53.
• Extra service will depart Richmond at 17:40, then drop off only at North Geelong, Geelong and South Geelong, expected to arrive at Marshall at 19:00. This train may earlier when full capacity is reached.
• An extra service will depart Richmond at 17:50, then drop off only at Lara and North Geelong, expected to arrive in Geelong 19:00.
• An extra service will depart Richmond 18:00, then dropping off at all stations, expected to arrive at Marshall at 19:40.

Ballarat line
• The 18:08 Southern Cross to Ballarat will have 80 additional seats.

Bendigo line
• The 18:15 Southern Cross to Bendigo will have 80 additional seats.

Seymour line
• The 17:33 Southern Cross to Seymour will have 20 additional seats.

Gippsland line
• Due to Connex track works on Sunday 7 September dedicated football coach services will operate to Caulfield and connect with metropolitan trains to Richmond.
• From Richmond, passengers are to catch metropolitan train to Caulfield to connect with coaches to Traralgon.
