V/Line is partnering with four country attractions to encourage Melburnians to travel by train to regional Victoria this winter.
Discounted entry will be offered to V/Line ticket holders travelling to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum in Warrnambool, the Victorian Goldfields Railway in Castlemaine / Maldon, and PowerWorks in Morwell.
V/Line will also continue its partnership with Fun4Kids which will again take over Warrnambool from 28 June to 5 July.
Housed in a magical 2.5 acre fully enclosed 'village' in the heart of town, the event fulfils every childhood dream with musical performances, games, crafts and physical challenges.
Special offers to V/Line ticket holders include:
Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum – Warrnambool
On presentation of a valid V/Line ticket, visitors to Flagstaff Hill receive a 10% discount on entry, 10% discount of purchases at Flagstaff Hill gift shop and a ‘buy one Devonshire tea - get one free’ offer at Flagstaff Hill tearooms. The evening sound and light show, Shipwrecked!, is a must-see!
Sovereign Hill Gold Rush Special – Ballarat
In conjunction with Sovereign Hill, V/Line operates the Goldrush Special - a daily train service between Southern Cross Station and Ballarat Station, connecting with a coach transfer between Ballarat Station and Sovereign Hill. On display of a valid V/Line ticket, visitors receive a 10% discount on entry to Sovereign Hill and a free Cobb and Co. coach ride. Don’t miss the enchanting experience of Frozen in Time at Sovereign Hill from 27 June to 26 July.
PowerWorks – Morwell
See the open-cut mine where the rich brown coal is taken from the ground, and then witness how it’s converted into electricity in one of the massive turbines at the four power stations in the energy complex. V/Line ticket holders receive $10 off the cost of family entry tickets (normally $35).
Victorian Goldfields Railway – Castlemaine/Maldon
Enjoy a true heritage experience on board the Victorian Goldfields Railway steam train from Castlemaine to Maldon. V/Line ticket holders get a 10% discount on all fares for the steam train journey – that is $54 instead of $60 return for two adults and three kids.
Fun4Kids – Warrnambool
The adventure to Warrnambool starts with V/Line with daily services departing from Melbourne. Children will love the excitement of catching the train, and the Family Traveller Ticket makes it an affordable option with two adults and up to four children travelling for $104 return.
V/Line is also sponsoring the V/Line Action Station at the festival which includes physical challenges such as circus skills workshop, sword fighting, Auskick, martial arts, acrobatics, dance, indoor beach and creative activities.
