V/Line is gearing up for one of the busiest weekends of the year with Easter holiday-makers and AFL footy fans expected to create bumper crowds in both directions this long weekend.
A special Easter timetable will operate over the Easter long weekend, and extra trains and additional seats on existing trains have been added for fans travelling to the footy at the ‘G this long weekend.
Thursday 9 April
All V/Line train and coach services will run to a regular Thursday timetable. Regional coaches will also run to a weekday timetable with additional coach services operating.
Friday 10 April – Good Friday
All V/Line train and coach services will run to a Sunday timetable with additional and altered services.
Saturday 11 April
All trains and coaches will run to a regular Saturday timetable.
Sunday 12 April – Easter Sunday
All V/Line trains and coach services will run to a regular Sunday timetable.
Monday 13 April – Easter Monday
All train and coach services will run to a Saturday timetable with some additional and altered services.

Thursday 9 April – Geelong v Collingwood at MCG
Geelong line (to Melbourne)
• 16:18 South Geelong to Southern Cross has additional seating and arrives at Southern Cross station 17:32.
• 16:50 Marshall to Southern Cross has additional seating and is altered to depart five minutes later at 16:55, stopping at South Geelong 17:01, Geelong 17:06, North Geelong 17:09, Lara 17:20, Southern Cross 18:17, and is extended to Richmond Station, arriving 18:29.
• An extra train departs from South Geelong at 16:55, stopping at Geelong, North Geelong, Lara, then express to Richmond, arriving 18:10.
• 17:25 South Geelong to Southern Cross has additional seating and is extended to Richmond, arriving 18:53.
• An extra train departs from Marshall at 17:46, stopping at South Geelong, Geelong, North Geelong, then express to Southern Cross, arriving at 18:58.
Geelong line (from Melbourne)
• An extra train departs from Richmond at 22:48, stopping at North Geelong, Geelong and South Geelong, arriving 00:04.
• An extra train departs from Richmond at 22:55, stopping at Lara, North Geelong, Geelong, South Geelong and Marshall, arriving 00:16.
• An extra train departs from Richmond 23:04 (and joins the 23:05 – altered to depart 23:15 – train from Southern Cross), stopping all stations to South Geelong, arriving at 00:28.
• There will be extra seats available on the 00:05 Southern Cross to Marshall.
Ballarat line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 23:25, stopping all stations to Ballarat, arriving at 00:43.
Bendigo line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 23:45, stopping all stations to Bendigo, arriving at 01:35.
Seymour line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 23:43, stopping all stations to Seymour, arriving at 01:00.
Gippsland line
• The 16:00 Traralgon to Southern Cross service will stop at Richmond at 18:19.
• The 17:05 Traralgon to Southern Cross service will stop at Richmond at 19:20.
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 22:35, stopping all stations to Traralgon, arriving at 00:33.
Saturday 11 April – Carlton v Essendon at MCG
Geelong line
• There will be extra seats available on the 23:00 Southern Cross to South Geelong service.
Ballarat line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 22:45, stopping all stations to Ballarat, arriving 00:04.
Bendigo line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 22:48, stopping all stations to Bendigo, arriving 00:37.
Seymour line
• An extra train departs from Southern Cross at 22:42, stopping all stations to Seymour, arriving 23:59.
Gippsland line
• The 14:48 Traralgon to Southern Cross service will stop at Richmond at 16:51.
• The 16:48 Traralgon to Southern Cross service will stop at Richmond at 18:51.
• An extra train departs Southern Cross at 22:18, stopping at Richmond at 22:26, then all stations to Traralgon, arriving 00:26.
