Blog ~ From the Web Manager’s Desktop
What is a Blog?!
A ‘Blog’
(short for ‘Weblog’) is basically an article that updates other web users with
information on a particular topic. Blogs are generally informal so I hope you
will forgive my relaxed tone.
I will use
my blog to update you on V/Line website developments. It’s my way of letting
you know what we’re working on at any given time, and what we’re planning to
work on in the future.

Beta testing / Beta
versions
You will notice this expression used a fair bit in my Blogs. When we design
and build a new system or piece of functionality, we will do system testing, also
called User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Once we’re
happy that the system is working correctly, we may deploy it on the ‘Live’
website for all customers. Alternatively, we may launch a ‘Beta version’ which
will be tested by a group of customers who’ve volunteered to help us test new
functionality.
Based on
the feedback we receive, we will then make changes/enhancements to the product
before it ‘goes live’ for everyone to see and use.
If you
might be interested in helping us with this testing (or even 1-2-1 or group
feedback sessions) please register.
Feedback
As you’ll see from my Blogs – I love feedback about the V/Line site. I have
been working with customer feedback for many years and appreciate it when you
take the time to let me know what you think. By that I mean what you think is
good and bad.
Suggestions
are welcome and many of the site improvements to date are as a result of people
emailing us to say “I think it would be good [or better] if….”
So, if you
have something to say let me know!
Kind
regards
Garry
