Help: RSS feedsThere are a few definitions for RSS, but most people refer to it as 'Really Simple Syndication'.
RSS feeds allow you to access regularly changing web content. On our website you can subscribe to a feed that will tell you about delays on a particular line.
Once you have set up an RSS feed it is ‘scanned’ whenever you are connected to the internet and automatically updates with new content.
Subscribing to feeds The first thing you need is a news reader. There are several different versions:
Browser based Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your feed subscriptions from any computer. You can view just the information you want, rather than having to visit individual sites.
The latest version of all browsers let you add feeds directly. When you click on an RSS feed, it will load in your browser and let you save it. For example, you'll see the following screen in Firefox when you click an RSS link:
Old browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer 6) do not support RSS in this way.
For those who use Google services – Google Reader is a good tool.
