Ticket Types & Conditions
There are
three key types of tickets you may purchase depending upon where you are
travelling – a V/Line ticket, myki smartcard or a Metcard:
Myki will be gradually introduced across the V/Line network
throughout 2010, but for now V/Line tickets must be purchased for all regional
train and coach travel outside Zone 2.
When thinking about which V/Line ticket(s) you need to buy,
you need to consider four key things:
Full Fare or concession?
Full Fare
is payable by any passenger who is over 16 years old and does not hold a concession card valid for travel in Victoria.
Child fares
Children
4-16 years old travel at concession fares, unless they are eligible to travel
on a cheaper Family Traveller ticket.
Children
under 4 years old travel free on public transport in Victoria, but they must be
accompanied by a parent or guardian. On reserved services, their seats
may be reserved without charge.
