Concession Fares
Students
Student
Concession cards may be issued to full time students pursuing a normal course of
study at a primary or secondary school up to Year 12 in Victoria.
Students
attending a TAFE college and studying a full-time VCE or
Year 11 or 12 are eligible to obtain a Secondary Student Concession Card.
Tertiary
students are also entitled to concession fares, if they are eligible for a
Victorian Public Transport Concession Card.

Please note:
A school-issued identification card does not entitle a student
to purchase concession fares.
Holders of student concession cards issued in other
states/territories are not eligible for concession travel.

2008
Victorian Public Transport Student Concession Application Forms are available
from customer service centres at premium Connex train stations, staffed
V/Line stations, V/Line agents and the MetShop.

Concession
off‑peak tickets are not available on weekends (Concession Peak fares apply).
Concession conditions
Concession passes must be in good condition for
a concession fare to be granted. The concession fare will not be granted if the
concession card or pass has been tampered with.
Remember to carry your concession card or pass
when your travel. If you can’t produce your card when asked by an authorised
V/Line staff member, you will have to pay the difference between the fare paid
and the full adult fare.
Only the cardholder (not dependants) named on
the card is entitled to concession fares.
The card must be in date and signed by the
cardholder, where applicable, to be valid for concession travel.
Students
near the VIC / SA / NSW borders
There has been an important change to Student
Concession eligibility for students who reside in Victoria and cross the border
to attend interstate schools. Please see Student concession cards for more information.

Children
Infants
Children under 4 years old travel free on
public transport in Victoria, but they must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian. On reserved services, their seats may be reserved without
charge.
Children
Children under 15 years
of age are eligible for concession fares on public transport in Victoria.

General
concessions
Holders
of the following documentation are eligible for concession fares:

Victorian Health Care Card
This card entitles the holder (not dependants) named on the card
to concession travel on Victorian public transport services. Holders of
Health Care Cards issued in other states/territories are not entitled to
concession travel.

Victorian Seniors Card
Holders of Senior Cards issued in other states are not entitled
to concession travel.
|
|

|
War Veterans and War Widows
Victorian Veterans concession card.
|
|

|
Australian Pensioner Concession Card
This card entitles the holder (not dependants) named on the card
to concession travel on Victorian public transport services. Cards from all
Australian states and territories are accepted.

|
Vision Impaired Travel Pass
This pass entitles the holder to free travel on Victorian public
transport services (except Mansfield – Mt Buller coach and chartered
services), including first class travel where available.

Veteran Travel Pass
Entitles the holder to free travel on Victorian public transport
services (except Mansfield – Mt Buller coach), including first class travel
where available.

|
Companion Card
The Companion Card offers free travel for one carer/companion on
Victorian public transport services. The Companion Card holder must have a
valid ticket or free travel pass. The Companion Card may be used in conjunction
with all valid concession or free passes/entitlements.
