Concession Fares
Important
notes about concession travel / concession fares
- Concession Off Peak tickets are not available on weekends (Concession Peak fares apply).
- Concession passes must be in good condition.
Concession fares will not be granted if the concession card or pass has
been tampered with.
- Remember to carry your concession card or pass when
your travel. If you can’t produce your card upon request, you will have to
pay the difference between the concession fare paid and the full fare.
- Only the cardholder (not dependants) named on the card
is entitled to concession fares.
- The card must display a valid date
and signed by the cardholder, where applicable.
- Children under 17 years old do not need a concession
card to qualify for concession travel.
Children
Infants
Children under 4 years old travel free on public transport in Victoria, but
they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. On reserved services, their
seats may be reserved without charge.
Children
Children under 17 years of age (i.e. 4 – 16 years old) are
eligible for concession fares on public transport in Victoria. See Children travelling unaccompanied.
Students
Student
Concession cards may be issued to full time students pursuing a normal course of
study at a primary or secondary school up to Year 12 in Victoria.
Students
attending a TAFE college and studying a full-time VCE or
Year 11 or 12 are eligible to obtain a Secondary Student Concession Card.
Tertiary
students are also entitled to concession fares, if they are eligible for a
Victorian Public Transport Concession Card.

Please note:
A school-issued identification card does not entitle a student
to purchase concession fares.
Holders of student concession cards issued in other
states/territories are not eligible for concession travel.

concessions
Holders
of the following cards/passes are eligible for concession fares:

Victorian Health Care Card
This card entitles the holder (not
dependants) named on the card to concession travel on Victorian public
transport services.
Holders of Health Care Cards issued in other states/territories are not
entitled to concession travel.

Australian Pensioner Concession
Card
This card entitles the holder
(not dependants) named on the card to concession travel on Victorian public transport
services.
Holders of Pensioner Concession Cards issued in other states/territories are
entitled to concession travel.

|

|
War Veterans and War Widows
This card entitles the holder (not dependants) named on
the card to concession travel on Victorian public transport services.
|
|

|
Vision Impaired Travel Pass
This pass entitles the holder to
free travel on Victorian public transport services (except Mansfield – Mt
Buller coach and chartered services), including first class travel where
available.

|

|
Companion Card
The Companion Card offers free travel for one
carer/companion on Victorian public transport services. The Companion Card
holder must have a valid ticket or free travel pass.
The Companion Card may be used in conjunction with all valid concession or
free passes/entitlements.

|
Veteran Travel Pass
Entitles the holder to free travel on
Victorian public transport services (except Mansfield – Mt Buller coach),
including first class travel where available.

Seniors
|

|
Seniors Card
Victorian Seniors Card holders and Seniors Card holders
from other Australian States and Territories will be eligible for concession fares
on Victorian Public Transport.
Victorian Seniors Card holders are entitled
to apply for the Sunday Pass (see below).
Holders of a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card are not eligible for public
transport concessions.
Holders of Seniors Cards from other Australian States and Territories can also
purchase the Seniors Daily Metcard, but cannot apply for a Sunday Pass.

Victorian seniors are also entitled to the

The Sunday Pass (formerly The Seniors Sunday Pass)
On Sundays, Victorian Seniors Card holders who also hold a Sunday Pass can travel free on:

Metropolitan
trains, trams and buses in Zones 1+2
·
The town
bus networks of major regional cities, such as Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong
Note: Not valid on V/Line services
outside the metropolitan area (Zones 1 + 2), including V/Line Zone B services.

Important
information for existing Seniors Sunday Pass holders
Seniors Sunday Pass Metcards will continue to
allow free Sunday travel (in metropolitan zones 1 & 2) beyond the
expiry date on the ticket.
Passengers do not have to apply for a new pass.
If you have misplaced or lost your Seniors
Sunday Pass Metcard and need a replacement, you can apply at:
· the MetShop (Melbourne Town Hall, on the corner of Swanston and
Little Collins streets)
· any Metro Premium
Station
· a staffed V/Line
Station
You
will need to fill out a form and show your Victorian Seniors Card.

Off Peak Free Travel Vouchers
All Victorian Seniors Card holders will receive
two Off Peak Free Travel Vouchers. Each can be exchanged for two single
or one same day return journey on V/Line train and coach services in Victoria.
