It’s cheaper than you think

 

$35.40 – that’s how little it costs for 2 adults and 2 children travelling to from Melbourne to Geelong and back during off peak times, including weekends.

Your V/Line ticket is also a Metcard

 

If your journey begins or ends in metropolitan Melbourne, pre-purchase your V/Line ticket.  On the day, you can use it to travel on Melbourne metropolitan public transport from your front door all the way to your arrival station at no extra cost.

Melbourne to Geelong travel information

 

Trains between Melbourne and Geelong run frequently (Timetables) and a one-way trip takes approximately 65 minutes.

 

Use the Plan Your Journey tool (see left – Help!) to check V/Line fares and times. 

 

Departing: Climb aboard at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station.

 

Route: Take in the scenery of Melbourne’s suburbs and south-western Victoria.

 

Your V/Line ticket is also valid for travel on Geelong town buses.

 

 

Arriving at Geelong station


Location: 500 metres from town centre.

 

Facilities: Disabled access, public telephone, accessible toilets, baby change, food kiosk, air‑conditioned waiting room, and bicycle and luggage lockers.

 

 

Local transport

V/Line coach services link Geelong with Apollo Bay, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Port Fairy, Heywood, Mount Gambier, Hamilton and Casterton.

  • at some premium metropolitan (Connex) stations
  • through V/Line ticket agents or
