The
tradition of the artists at the Bendigo Pottery is alive and well, as Australia’s oldest working pottery.
Here you
can try your hands on the wheel and have your masterpiece fired in the kiln
and posted home you to. Alternatively, watch a demonstration by an
experienced potter or browse the gallery and shop.

Admission
Free entry
into the sales gallery. It costs $7 for adults and $18 for a family to enter
the interpretive museum. Lessons with a master potter are $12 per half hour, or
$18 for one hour. A small container of clay for children for the “Clay Play”
section costs $3.

Getting
there
The
Bendigo Pottery is located in the suburb of Epsom, 6.5km north of the Alexandra
Fountain on Pall Mall. Catch the 10 bus to Epsom from Bendigo Station, it
departs hourly. Alight the bus on the Epsom Highway (Napier St). Your V/Line
ticket is valid on Bendigo’s local buses. There are no services on Sundays or
public holidays.
A taxi to
Epsom costs $12-$15 each way.
Catching
V/Line there is easier and cheaper than you might think
$63.20 – that’s how little it costs for 2 adults and up to 4 children
travelling to from Melbourne to Bendigo and back during off peak times, including weekends.
This fare is calculated using the Family Traveller fare,
where up to 2 kids travel free with each fare paying adult. Conditions

your journey begins or ends in metropolitan Melbourne, pre-purchase your V/Line ticket. On
the day, you can use it to travel on Melbourne metropolitan public transport
from your front door all the way to your arrival station at no extra
cost. In addition, your valid V/Line ticket is also valid for travel on Bendigo’s local bus network.
