WinchelseaBest known for its historical homesteads, Winchelsea is a pleasant rural town where you can explore the regal historic mansions and indule in a delicious Devonshire tea.
Winchelsea sits on the banks the Barwon River providing many ideal spots for a quiet riverside picnic. In the colder months head indoors to one of the many eateries such as the popular Winchelsea Shire Hall Tearooms in Hesse Street.
A walk through the town allows visitors to browse through the many local art, craft and antique stores that line the streets. There are many local treasures just waiting to be discovered.
One of the best ways to explore Winchelsea is to head off on the Winchelsea Heritage Trail which takes in its many historic buildings. This includes Barwon Park - a grand mansion built between 1869 and 1871 and now listed in the National Trust.
The annual Winchelsea Festival in November offers family fun and entertainment, country skills, regional food and wine, arts & crafts and much more.
