Prior to European settlement, the area was a popular spot for Aboriginal tribes due to its bountiful water supply. Be sure to take a walk through the Bataluk Trail and learn about the history of the indigenous people of the region and visit a number of sacred aboriginal sites.
It is unknown whether Stratford took its name from the famous birthplace of Shakespeare or not, but that hasn’t stopped the town from celebrating the link with the annual Shakespeare on the River Festival , where the town’s best actors get together to perform Shakespearean classics.
