SeymourSeymour, in the heart of Victoria, offers activities that the whole family can enjoy. The Goulburn River is a key attraction with fishing and walking trails offering popular spots for families. The riverside trails invite visitors to explore the natural landscape of fertile valleys, magnificent river gums and wetlands.
Seymour is rich in history and features a number of beautiful heritage buildings. The Old Post Office Art Gallery exhibits works by noted Australian artists. Browse the gallery, and then enjoy a meal in the restaurant. The Old Courthouse is opposite and houses the local Art Society and Visitor Information Centre. Pickup the Heritage walking trail and enjoy the historical precinct including the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk or visit the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, which features historic carriages, steam and diesel locomotives.
You can sample local produce and see local arts and crafts at the monthly Seymour Market which features over 80 stalls. It’s held on the third Saturday from March to December in Kings Park.
On the third Saturday in October the Tastes of the Goulburn, in the Station precinct, showcases food and wine from the Goulburn Valley, steam train rides, art and craft. The Seymour Darley Cup is run on the Sunday. Other major annual events include the Wild Art Show at the Old Post Office Art Gallery and the three day Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, both are held in February.
Getting thereFrom Southern Cross Station, board a Seymour bound train. Seymour is approximately an hour and half from Melbourne.
V/Line also offers bus services linking Seymour with other towns around Victoria.
