MorwellMorwell has a lot to offer visitors including scenic gardens, enticing art galleries and a busy events calendar.

The second largest town in Gippsland, Morwell is also the centre of Victoria’s brown coal mining operations. Visit PowerWorks Energy Technology Centre to experience multimedia and interactive exhibits of its 80-year-old coal mining industry.

Morwell is surrounded by Morwell National Park which is home to over 40 species of orchid and a variety of rare native Australian animals. See if you can spot the elusive lyrebird as you stroll through the many tracks and trails.

At the eastern end of the town experience the sweet smell of the roses at the Morwell Rose Garden. It features 4000 rose bushes, spread over four acres of perfectly manicured land. Grab your picnic basket and relax in one of the finest rose gardens in the Southern Hemisphere.

If you appreciate fine art and culture, a visit to Latrobe Regional Gallery is a must. Established in 1970, the gallery's permanent collection is predominantly contemporary Australian art. An ever-changing program of quality exhibitions ensures a different experience every time you visit.

A number of events are on during the summer months, including the Boolarra Folk Festival in February; the new Home Expo, Lifestyle and Outdoor Adventure Show in February; and the Multicultural Festival in March.
