MalmsburyMalmsbury is rich with history and hidden treasures. The affluence of the gold rush era is apparent with a impressive streetscape of bluestone buildings.
The Malmsbury Botanical Gardens is set over six hectares and provides the perfect place to enjoy lunch. Roll out your picnic mat overlooking the ornamental lake and then take a post-lunch stroll down Malmsbury Viaduct, a true engineering feat. Close to the lake is the Malmsbury Mill, a former bluestone malt mill which sits on the banks of the Coliban River. With an adjoining restaurant and art gallery, it is certainly worth a visit.
Malmsbury is a great place to discover eclectic pieces of locally produced art and crafts, including painting, sculpture, glass and ceramics. Should creative inspiration strike, there is also the option to visit Made in Malmsbury to make your own jewellery.
A short taxi ride from town is Bleak House Gardens, with an exquisite rose garden and sculpture display featuring stainless steel and granite artworks, this is a lovely place to stop for an afternoon Devonshire tea, complete with homemade preserves.
In spring, the Malmsbury Fayre brings the town to life with local wine and produce, art exhibitions, music and kids activities – all with a unique local touch.
