EchucaEchuca is an idyllic location along the majestic Murray River perfect for a weekend getaway.
The town was the centre of the river trade in the late 1800s, and the tradition continues, as new generations of skippers take the original paddle-steamers out on the river for pleasure cruises.
Sailing on a paddle-steamer along the Murray River, observing the riverbank trees casting shadows over the boat and the sun glinting off the water, you could be forgiven for thinking Echuca is paradise.
Back on dry land, you can spend a day packed with things to see and do in the Port of Echuca precinct.

Getting there Echuca is approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes by train from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station.
V/Line also offers train and bus services linking Echuca with other towns around Victoria.

Getting around townEchuca StationEchuca Station is an easy 15 minute walk from the town centre and historic Port of Echuca on the Murray River.
There is also a taxi rank at the station and local bikes are available for hire from the town centre or the Port of Echuca.

Try this weekend itinerarySaturdayHead to the Port of Echuca precinct and take a one hour tour on a paddle-steamer, then join a walking tour around the port area.
Stroll up Hare Street and Warren Street, and take in the old-time ice-creamery, lolly shops, antique stores and second-hand book shops.
Spend a few hours in the wilderness around Victoria Park, located between the Murray River and Campaspe River at the far end of the port precinct.
