Castlemaine State Festival V/Line will continue the successful and award winning sponsorship of the Castlemaine State Festival in 2011.
The event, held biannually in April, is a 10 day festival of music and performing arts.
In 2009 Castlemaine State Festival organisers by partnering with V/Line, connected regional travel and arts events by staging the Quiet Music in Churches series. The series included 10 concerts held in four venues across nine days that brought world renowned musicians to the town.
The performances were scheduled within walking distance of the Castlemaine Station and were timed to fit around the V/Line timetable for train arrivals and departures. The result was an increase in the number of visitors to Castlemaine who took the train to visit the festival. An estimated 7500 train trips were made. People were also encouraged to take the train to the festival to reduce carbon emissions.
The 2011 festival will run from 1 - 10 April.
Australian Business Arts Foundation awardIn September 2009 the Australian Business Arts Foundation recognised V/Line and the Castlemaine State Festival organisers for the successful partnership with the QantasLink Regional Award for bringing high quality arts and culture to regional Victoria.
