School children put themselves in danger at train stations, by crossing the tracks when the train is approaching, or not standing clear when trains arrive and depart from the platform.

Would you like the tools to help show kids the right way to behave around trains?

A kit that provides a fun yet educational approach to rail safety is now available to school teachers who would like to motivate their students to behave safely around trains.

Parents can also use our online resources to teach young children rail safety messages.

Train Training kits include:

  • DVD - A safety DVD was created by V/Line in conjunction with Metlink. The movie features key safety messages aimed at primary school age children.
  • Activity sheets - these sheets include a word search puzzle, colour-in pages, spot the differences and a maze page for the children to complete.
  • Posters - a series of four classroom posters featuring the four key messages.

We also encourage teachers to book travel with V/Line through the My Train travel program. My Train provides up to 20 children and four adults free off-peak return travel (excluding Fridays). This program can be used only once per primary school per year. (This program is not offered to secondary schools.)
