Carriages
V/Line has several carriage types/configurations in its fleet:
N carriage sets (“N sets”)

There are
currently 19 first-class and 36 economy carriages in operation with a top speed
of 115km/h.
N set trains can be seen on both Intercity (long distance) and Interurban (short distance) services.
Features
N carriage

Economy class carriage: 3+2 seating configuration, which
provide seating for up to 88 passengers.
o
First class carriage: larger, rotating and reclining seats in a 2+2
arrangement for up to 52 passengers. All first-class seats are equipped with
meal trays and footrests.

Refurbishment program
In 2007, V/Line commenced a refurbishment program for the existing N and H
carriages.
In October 2007 the first refurbished carriage was released into traffic with
the new V/Line livery (what the train looks like on the outside), as well as
updated curtains, seat fabrics, toilets and carpets.
H carriage sets (“H sets”)

There are
currently 55 H carriages in operation with a top speed of 115km/h.
The H carriages are exclusively used on commuter services.

carriages are all economy class, with a 3+2 seat configuration, which provides
seating accommodation for up to 87 passengers per carriage.
