Seymour line closure - April 2012

Due to major track work to replace 11 bridges and up to 52,000 sleepers on the Seymour line, trains will be disrupted for 22 days beginning from April 6.

The track work will affect all customers travelling between Shepparton, Seymour and Melbourne from Friday 6 April to Sunday 29 April.

Train services will be replaced with coaches between 8am and 4pm on a weekday.

Shepparton line services will operate as coaches for morning and noon departures, and as a train in the early afternoon and late evening.

Due to platform works, Wallan customers will need to use replacement coaches at all times of the day whilst Broadford customers will need to catch a shuttle coach 20 minutes earlier than the usual train time to connect with trains at Kilmore East.

Wallan, Broadford and Shepparton customers will be most affected. Detailed information can be found below.

All customers please read below, and familiarise yourself with affected stations and trains.


Buses will replace trains between Melbourne, Seymour and Shepparton on the below dates.
Friday 6 April to Sunday 15 April (inclusive)

Saturday 21 April and Sunday 22 April (inclusive)

Saturday 28 April and Sunday 29 April (inclusive)


A temporary bus timetable will apply from Tuesday 10 to Friday 13 April.




 ANZAC Day (Wednesday 25 April)
 ANZAC Day (Wednesday 25 April) Trains will run to a Saturday timetable except for Wallan and Broadford.
 For Wallan and Broadford customers more detailed information can be found below.



Peak trains will operate between Melbourne and Seymour on the following dates:

 Monday 16 April to Friday 20 April (inclusive)
 Monday 23 April to Tuesday 24 April (inclusive)
 Thursday 26 April to Friday 27 April (inclusive)


Trains that will run on the above dates include:
 Train from Seymour Train from Melbourne

 7:01

 

No trains will run between 8:00am and 4:00pm each day. All trains between these times will run as a bus.

Trains services from Melbourne to Seymour will recommence with the 16:31 train and run through until the last service.

Trains services from Seymour to Melbourne will recommence with the 16:15 train and run through to the last service.




Wallan customers ONLY
 Buses will replace all trains on the following dates
 Friday 6 - Sunday 15 April
 Saturday 21 - Sunday 22 April
 Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 April

Due to platform works buses will replace all trains from Wallan to Melbourne between:

  • Friday 16 April and Sunday 29 April (inclusive).

From 16 April, weekdays only, some trains will run from Wallan to Seymour.

 Saturday 21 - Sunday 22 April
 Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 April


Melbourne-bound peak commuters
Due to platform works shuttle buses will connect with peak trains from Kilmore East on the below dates
 Monday 16 April - Friday 20 April
 Monday 23 April - Tuesday 24 April
 Thursday 26 April - Friday 27 April


Trains depart Kilmore East Station at:

Shuttle buses will leave Broadford 20 minutes before the above departure times. Please allow time to catch the connecting shuttle.

Buses will replace all other trains from Broadford to Melbourne.

Trains will run from Broadford to Seymour at the following times:

 00:40 (Friday only)

ANZAC Day (Wednesday 25 April) will run to a Saturday timetable

  • Buses will replace all trains to Melbourne;
  • Trains to Seymour will run.


Shepparton customers only
The only two trains running each day include the:

 15:55 Shepparton to Melbourne
 18:33 Melbourne to Shepparton

All other trains will run as a bus for the entire journey between Melbourne and Shepparton.



Other information

  • Allow an extra 60 minutes for your trip;
  • No checked luggage
  • No pets or bikes on replacement buses
  • In Melbourne, buses will arrive and depart from the Southern Cross Station bus terminal on Spencer Street.
