V/Line has several carriage types/configurations in its fleet.
N-Sets
There are 78 N-set carriages in service with a top speed of 115km/h.
N-Sets feature:
Toilets
Air-conditioning
Drinking fountains
Luggage storage areas
Snack bar / buffet facilities on some long distance services (more info)
Economy class carriage: 3+2 seating configuration, which provide seating for up to 88 passengers.
First class carriage: larger, rotating and reclining seats in a 2+2 arrangement for up to 52 passengers. All first-class seats are equipped with meal trays and footrests.

H-Sets
There are 55 H-Set carriages in operation with a top speed of 115km/h.
The H-Set carriages are exclusively used on commuter services.
H-Set carriage features include:

H-Set carriages are all economy class, with a 3+2 seat configuration, which provides seating accommodation for up to 87 passengers per carriage.
H-Set carriages are wheelchair accessible.
Refurbishment programIn 2007 a $13 million state government program began to refurbish the V/Line Sprinter and Locomotive-hauled carriage fleet.
As of June 2010, of the 138 locomotive-hauled carriages in service, 96 were refurbished. Funding has been secured for an additional 33 to be refurbished in the coming months.
The refurbishment of the carriages included new carpet, blinds, seat covers and livery.
